If delicious food, great service and someone to fuss over your dog is what you want from a coastal pub, The Hero is for you. A lovely place. Even in the depths of January after the festive crowds have gone home to send kids to school and cross off the days until their next holiday, this place doesn't miss a beat. I had the chicken pie served with creamy mash, just-done-perfectly greens and deeply-tasty gravy. It was as near perfect as dammit (the flaky crust!!!!). The other special, a catch of the day, was truly a catch (I was assured). After settling up. we had to drag our dog away from the place: he'd clearly seen the light and was mapping out a future in his pooch brain that involved remaining in Burnham Overy, sitting by the fire, being handed the occasional treat and tickled behind the ears exactly where he liked. We will go back.

Been several times. Food is always absolutely top notch. I had the pie thus time. Spot on, but their burger is a firm favourite with our family. Great service. Lovely atmosphere. Classy decor.

We stopped by for a drink - and although all the tables were booked, a really helpful member of staff found us a small table where we could sit and enjoy a glass of wine. Great service and we will definitely be back for food next time!

Walk first. Find that holistic place. Then drinks back to a mild reality of good food and a beverage that can hit spots your last ex could only hope for. Dog friendly and so relaxed.

Looks like a pub but it isn’t, sadly. You can’t just turn up for a drink, order at the bar then take your drinks and sit in a free seat. You have to be ‘seated’ where some up herself staff tells you. In our case we were shoved onto a couple of uncomfortable stools in the drafty hallway. Sod that for a game of soldiers.

We popped in for lunch after a dog walk. Food and service was great. The waiter worked out we were on “mini moon” and was very generous with a glass of bubbles each and a chocolate written message.

Visited for lunch on a Saturday with family. The food and service were great, will certainly be back! Definitely book ahead as it was busy, and would recommend the Hero burger

Calling it The Hero is a bit of a joke. So someone rowed in a bump race. That is not heroism.

Had Sunday lunch, 1 with chicken and 1 with roast beef. Both meals VERY well cooked and presented. Beef slightly pink and very tender.
Also has a very large fish and chips and three burgers. All excellent
Staff were very police and did not rush us to finish the meal.
We shall be back in the near future

Wonderful rooms with excellent attention to detail. The food is delicious, both breakfast and evening meals. Staff are all extremely helpful and friendly. This is a wonderful place to stay and eat when visiting the Norfolk coast!

We love this pub and come every time we visit BoS. However this time we came with friends, who are coeliac, and despite advertising gluten free options on the menu, the burgers came in small, sad gluten free bread, not burger buns. And the soup came with the same sad bread - only one piece - rather than the 2 pieces given to the non-coeliacs. This is pretty poor given the prices and the promise made by the menu. The food also took around a hour to arrive - for lunch!
Should be much better than this.

We had an evening meal here. Some good things - food was tasty, staff were friendly and the Barsham Topper was excellent. We read the menu and made our choices but when we tried to order, one of our starters and one of our mains were not available. Starters arrived quickly but main courses took over 45 minutes to come after we had finished them. The main courses were a bit lukewarm, certainly not hot. It's a nice enough place, but this wasn't a great experience and I won't come again.

Lovely place. Sat inside for the first time, Had a really nice meal. The Jerk Chicken flatbread and pig cheeks, the also gave us a free spirit and the end of the meal. Highly recommended and dog friendly.

Had such a lovely evening st The Hero...the food was outstanding, my husband said best burger he's ever eaten..( we live in London) such a relaxing atmosphere, attentive staff, comfortable cushioned seats and really relaxing music. Overall a fabulous pub experience thankyou HERO
